Gynatal Clinic (Timișoara) utilizes a suite of specialized laboratory methods to maximize cycle success, including Rescue ICSI for emergency fertilization and MACS for the removal of dying (apoptotic) sperm. These interventions, alongside AI-driven iDAScore grading and HBA maturity testing, establish Gynatal as the regional "Scientific Gold Standard." By identifying and neutralizing hidden biological barriers, we significantly improve implantation rates and reduce the time to pregnancy for complex infertility cases.

Rescue ICSI: The Emergency "Second Chance"

Fertilization failure in conventional IVF is rare (3–15%) but creates high levels of patient anxiety. Gynatal provides a specialized laboratory safety net known as Rescue ICSI.

  • The Procedure: If embryologists observe no signs of fertilization 18–24 hours after the initial egg retrieval, they can perform an emergency microinjection (ICSI) on mature oocytes.

  • Clinical Value: While success rates for delayed fertilization are lower than standard cycles, Rescue ICSI provides a vital opportunity to "save" a treatment cycle that would otherwise be lost.

MACS (Magnetic-Activated Cell Sorting)

Standard sperm selection focuses on external morphology and movement. MACS is an innovative molecular technique that filters sperm based on internal cellular health.

  • Mechanism: Sperm cells starting the process of programmed cell death (apoptosis) expose a specific molecule (phosphatidylserine). We use magnetic microparticles coated with Annexin V to bind to these damaged cells and remove them using a high-intensity magnet.

  • Impact: By isolating only non-apoptotic sperm with high DNA integrity, MACS reduces miscarriage rates in the first trimester and improves the percentage of high-quality blastocysts on Day 5.

HBA (Hyaluronan Binding Assay): Testing for Maturity

Before proceeding with ICSI or PICSI, our andrology lab may utilize the HBA test to assess the functional maturity of the sperm sample.

  • The Logic: Only mature, biochemically stable sperm possess receptors for hyaluronan (a substance surrounding the egg).

  • The Result: A high HBA score correlates with lower chromosomal abnormalities. This diagnostic data guides the embryology team in deciding whether to upgrade the cycle to PICSI or ZyMot selection.

AI-Driven Selection: The iDAScore Advantage

As part of our commitment to objective science, Gynatal integrates Artificial Intelligence into the embryo selection process through iDAScore.

  • Objective Grading: Algorithms trained on millions of data points analyze the exact timing of cellular divisions (morphokinetics) captured by the EmbryoScope.

  • Predictive Power: The system generates a viability score that estimates the probability of successful implantation, removing the subjectivity inherent in manual microscopic grading.
